ADHD Children

ADHD ?attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder ?occurs in about 10% of children. It is also sometimes known as ADD (attention deficit disorder). ADHD children have trouble paying attention, staying focused and following instructions. They also sometimes have difficulty calming down or sitting still. These symptoms persist at home, at school, or in any setting.

The symptoms of ADHD in children fall into three basic categories: inattentiveness, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness. ADHD children generally have trouble staying focused on specific tasks. They usually become distracted easily. ADHD children may or may not be hyperactive or energetic. They commonly lack the ability to control impulses.

Often, the symptoms and behaviors associated with ADD/ADHD go unrecognized. ADHD children get classified as badly behaved. Parents and teachers assume that the child is obstinate or rude, because he or she does not follow instruction or disrupts class. In reality, the child with ADHD cannot control these impulses.

If you suspect that your child may suffer from ADHD, seek the opinion of a medical professional. There is no test for ADHD, but a doctor can determine whether your child exhibits enough symptoms to be classified as having the disorder.

Keep in mind that the best treatment for ADHD is not always medication. Some ADHD children do respond well to medications such as Ritalin and Adderol, but others find that the side-effects of medication are too burdensome, or that the drugs are simply ineffective.

There are many alternative approaches to treating ADHD children which don’t involve medication. Diet and exercise can go a long way toward alleviating ADHD symptoms. Also, ADHD children need a lot of structure. Parents must remain clear, firm and consistent. You can help your child excel in school by providing your ADHD child with a quiet, isolated place for completing homework without distractions.

Not all children who exhibit the symptoms associated with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder actually have the disorder. Sometimes children act out at home or at school due to other distressing factors in the child’s life, such as divorce or a recent death in the family. Children with learning disabilities sometimes act out, out of frustration or to hide their learning delays. Also, some children are simply animated and rambunctious.

The difference between occasionally distracted children and children suffering from ADHD, is that ADHD children struggle with focus and attentiveness in every setting. Try as they might, they cannot sustain concentration nor control their impulsive behavior. For these reasons, ADHD children usually fall behind in school and often get in trouble frequently.

If you suspect that your child may have ADHD, don’t ignore the symptoms. ADHD is treatable and does not have to hold any child back from high achievement.
IRS forms are used in the United States as part of a system where revenue information is kept track of and analyzed. A 1099 tax form is part of the Internal Revenue Service and is used by freelance workers who earn and are paid at least $600 for the last twelve months.

Freelance workers who use 1099 tax forms have diverse occupations. Waiters, writers, actors, trainers, electricians, plumbers, designers etc., all must report types of income that is not regulated by payroll system. This is a requirement to work in the United States.

When freelance workers are hired by employers, many times they are asked to fill out an I-9 form, which is then kept and submitted when necessary. When the employer files taxes at the end of the tax year, the freelance employers must declare what they have been paid using the 1099 tax form and sometimes must pay taxes since no tax money has been taken from their wages all year long.

Filling out a 1099 tax form is a daunting task to many people who are not sure what all the boxes are for and do not wan to complete it incorrectly and then have to pay out more money than necessary. There are many resources online, in books and at consulting agencies that can help people fill out and complete the 1099 tax form.

Failing to fill out and file a 1099 tax form can be interpreted as someone refusing or neglecting to pay his or her taxes. There is an official Internal Revenue Services website with all the parameters and stipulations listed so people can take responsibility for their taxes.

Because so many companies and individuals file so many 1099 tax forms each year, in 2008, different versions of the form can out to be used depending on the circumstances. For example, a 1099-R form is used for Distributions From Pensions, Annuities, Insurance Contracts, IRAs and Retirement Plans while a 1099-SA form is used for Distributions From an HAS, Medicare Advantage MSA or Archer MSA. There are twenty-three versions of the 1099 tax form to use.

Because so many companies file these 1099 tax forms, new rules have been implemented to save paper. There are resources available to submit forms and file electronically, saving time, postage and paper. New processes are always being developed to make the process easier so the forms are filed correctly.
There are few games in the world today that combine athleticism, talent, luck, hard work, strength, intelligence, quickness and desire as the game of basketball. All around the world, people play games in the school yards, gyms, driveways and parks. It is a simple game to learn but a difficult game to master. And that is just for those that want to play it. You can still enjoy basketball as a spectator sport. My girlfriend is not a sports fan but when she watched professional basketball in person, she likened it to dancing with a ball. She definitely has a point. Basketball combines grace, fast-paced action, and intense strategies like no other sport, making it a great sporting event to watch. So, whether watching or playing, here are just a few things you should know about basketball.

Basketball is a game played by five players aside. The only equipment needed are a basket and a ball. Players use an inflated leather ball to score points by tossing it up or “shooting” it into the ten foot tall basket. Depending on the situation, the basket is worth between 1 and 3 points. Obviously, when one team has possession, it is the other team’s objective to prevent them from scoring a basket. They can do so by “stealing” which is taking the possession away from the ball handler, “blocking”, which is deflecting a shot attempt and getting the ball if the possessing team misses a shot. This result of hitting the basket with the ball and missing is called a “rebound”. Finally, the defending team may get the ball if the possessing team makes a mistake which leads to a loss of possession called a “turnover”.

The most interesting and unique part about basketball is the dribbling. Rather than allowing the ball handler free reign to run anywhere they want with the basketball, the player must bounce the ball off of the floor back up to her palm-down hand in order to advance the ball. Unfortunately, once a player begins to dribble, she must continue to dribble without holding the ball again. At this point, the player has “lost her dribble” and cannot resume dribbling, and thus, is stopped. They are now limited to two choices: shoot at the basket or pass to a teammate. Players are not required to dribble, they simply cannot move with the ball without it.

Those are the basic rules that you need to know about basketball in order to play or watch. Obviously, the game is simple to understand but as you will see if you continue to watch and play, the game takes a lifetime to master, making it a fun challenge for new and old players and spectators alike.
