Xanax addiction

Xanax addiction is a subject that’s near and dear to my heart. Alprazolam, which is the chemical name for Xanax (which is the brand name of the drug produced by Pfizer), is a prescription I’ve had off-and-on for years. It’s a sedative from the benzodiazapene class of drugs, that is often prescribed to treat panic attacks.

And I’ve suffered some panic attacks in my day. Ironically, it’s because I’ve abused alcohol regularly, and alcohol depletes your body’s stores of vitamin B. Vitamin B is, of course, a mood stabilizer. Remove it from your body, and suddenly the walls start closing in and everything is going wrong. And that’s where the xanax addiction comes in.

You see, xanax cures what’s ailing you. Take half a miligram (a relatively low dose) and suddenly you won’t be paralyzed with fear or depression. You might not be singing and dancing, but you’ll be in control of yourself enough to put your anxieties aside and get on with your work.

Take a full miligram and you’ll be completely chillface. Take more than that, and you’ll either be asleep or you’ll have yourself a full blown xanax addiction.

You see, sedatives work by calming you. They make it so that you’ll be able to completely relax and face whatever is troubling you. A xanax addiction means that you can’t do that without the help of the drug. You don’t want to get to that point, but unfortunatley, many people are already there.

My current prescription, for example, is to take a two miligram “bar” (called “zany bars” among the cool kids) three times a day. Which is absolutely ridiculous. No one could take that much xanax in a day and not become a complete zombie. Plus, I don’t think anyone could take that much xanax or other benzodiazapene drugs (valium and klonopin being two that come to mind) without developing a xanax addiction.

Instead, I’ll take a bar and break it into quarters. If I’m feeling wired before bedtime, I’ll take half a miligram to help me relax when my head hits the pillow. If I’m feeeling something beyond wired – depressed, anxious, whatever – I’ll take a whole miligram. Only when I’m feeling a full-blown panic attack will I take a full two miligrams, and most nights I’ll take nothing at all.

So beware of a xanax addiction. It’s a wonderful drug, but just like everything else, it needs to be used in moderation.

So you’re writing a book. Some tips for making it happen.

Most people like to think that they have a novel or another kind of book inside them. However, only a few ever get around to starting one, let alone finishing one or getting it published. After all, writing a book is a big undertaking, and can take a lot of time and effort. It’s also a very solitary endeavor, which is one reason why many people never finish their first attempts. Here are some tips to help you make your goal of writing a book a reality.

The first thing you should do is pick a topic that you’re passionate about. Pick something that interests you, or that you’d like to read about. If you’re going to write a book, you’re going to be spending a lot of time with it, so you want to make sure you enjoy the process. Find an area that interests you, and narrow it down to a specific theme or point of interest. Fiction writers have a little more leeway here than non-fiction writers, but knowing what your book is about will help guide the writing process.

Some writers like to sit down and plan their book from beginning to end. Others may like to draw a concept map, or brainstorm. This part of the process really depends on your own preferences. However, if you are an inexperienced writer, or one who lacks discipline, planning is a good way to go. Planning doesn’t have to be exhaustive. You don’t have to stifle your creativity by mapping out every detail. Even a general overview or outline can be useful, as otherwise many writers end up spinning their wheels after getting only a few pages in.

The next step is to sit down and write. It sounds simple, but this is the step that many writers find the most difficult! If you fulfill your goal of writing a book, you’ll have to stop talking about it, and actually do it. Set aside some time each day to write. Turn off the internet and the television, and make sure that your loved ones know not to distract you. This is time that belongs to your book. If you set aside an hour a day, you may well end up with a finished book within six months or a year. That’s quite an achievement! However, it is essential that you do make time for writing. This is something that many people struggle with. They’d prefer to watch the football, or go out with friends. If you’re serious about your writing, you’ll need not only to find time, but to make time.

Once you’ve finished your first draft, the next step is to put your book away for a while and forget about it. Once it’s sat in your drawer for a few months, it’s time to get started editing. Some people love editing, while others hate it. However, editing is part of the process, and it’s an essential step in making your book the best it can be. Just remember that all of the greats had to edit their work, too. Nobody can write a whole book’s worth of perfect words even on the first go!

The last thing to think about when writing a book is your passion for writing. If you start to feel like you’re not enjoying it, think about why. Book writing is your passion, after all. Why else would have you begun a book? If things get tough, reassess your goals and your approach, and try to make things work for you as best you can.

How to choose stylish, but practical women’s running clothes for spring and summer

Running is now one of American’s favorite ways to get or stay in shape. People have enthusiastically taken up this activity for a variety of well-founded reasons. Running can help you lose weight, shed emotional stress, improve your circulation and tone muscles. Unlike most sporting activities, you don’t need any special equipment. The only investment you need make is in comfortable clothing. While men can easily make do with a pair of gym shorts and a tank top or T-shirt, women’s running clothes present more of a challenge. Even while running solely for the many health benefits, women generally want to look stylish while doing so. The warm weather of the spring and summer seasons require practical choices, which are also stylish, for the benefit of your male viewing public. Here, we’ve got the scoop on choosing women’s running clothes that fill the bill.

Practicality and style are your two main considerations when selecting your running clothes. To fulfill the practical factors for spring and summer, you want clothes that are lightweight, fit comfortably and are easy to wash and dry. If you have just two sets of running clothes that meet these criterion, you’re all set for the warm weather running seasons.

Lightweight fabrics that breathe, such as cotton, are preferable to fabrics such as nylon or Spandex (TM), which hold moisture and increase your body’s warmth. You’ll notice the difference quickly if you’re out running on your lunch hour in mid-summer! The women’s running clothes wardrobe which consists entirely of cotton garments is going to be most practical and comfortable. Even a loose fitting pair of elastic-waisted nylon shorts will make you sweat uncomfortably at the waist.

As for choices in tops, a tight-fitting tank top or ’sports bra’, made of cotton, is your best choice for both comfort and practicality. While a nylon or Spandex (TM) sports bra will usually last longer than cotton, you may want to consider the fact that cotton is ultimately more comfortable ?and less pricey ?than its synthetic counterpart. On the other hand, if you’ve got the budget for a more extended wardrobe of women’s running clothes, a nylon or other synthetic sports bra fabric may be perfect for cool morning running.

Depending on your running schedule, the only other item you might need in your lineup of woman’s running clothes is a lightweight, cotton or synthetic, sweatshirt. This item can be useful if you enjoy running in the wee hours of dawn, or late towards evening. In the cool, chilly hours, use the sweatshirt to avoid catching a chill. In the warmer period, tie the shirt around your waits.

With the popularity of running as an activity, there are an abundance of stylish choices in women’s running clothes. It’s really simply a matter of personal taste. Help yourself to your favorite colors, trims, and patterns. Yes, you look like a star, cool, comfortable, and stylish good looks!

Women and Heart Disease

Heart diseases are common among the women population just as is the case in male population. In fact, it is estimated that 8.6 million women succumb to the illness annually in the United States alone. This means that the disease is responsible for a third of all women deaths in the country. Women heart disease is currently affecting eight million women, with 35,000 of these being under 65 years of age. Another four million are angina sufferers.

The prevalence of women heart disease is evident in the 435,000 heart attacks registered annually in the different parts of the country. Statistics indicate that 42 percent of the heart attack suffers die within a year of the attack. This means that women who suffer heart attacks die at a faster rate than men. Statistics in the trend of heart ailments in men indicate that only 24 percent of men die a year after suffering an initial heart attack.

Women heart diseases first presents with mild symptoms which feel like flu to most women. According to health professionals, at least 71 percent of women with heart conditions experience these mild symptoms, which usually manifest as extreme weakness. At this early stage, most women do not have pains in the chest. In fact, health statistics indicate that about two-thirds of heart related deaths occur in women who have never had chest pains before.

Just like in the male population, the most profound women heart disease risk factors include tobacco smoking, abnormal amounts of lipids in the blood and diabetes. Previous researches indicate that women smokers increase their risk by 19 years compared to non smokers. Hypertension, which is common in people using the oral contraceptive, also increases the chance of women developing heart disease. Diabetes on the other hand places women sufferers on twice the risk of suffering from women heart disease when compared to the non-diabetics. More so, diabetes places women at double the risk of repeat heart attacks.

The diagnosis for women heart disease is not as straight forward as is the case with men. This is attributed to the even distribution of plaque in women抯 arteries, which passes as normal in angiographic studies. In men however, the plaque clumps in different areas of the artery walls thus leading to easy diagnosis.

However, it is not all doom for women heart disease sufferers. Studies have shown that the female heart is able to respond better to lifestyle changes than does the male heart. As such, women can easily adopt lifestyle changes related preventive measures to keep the disease at bay.

How to encourage repeat website visitors

There is a huge amount of information on the internet. This means that there are many places users can go to get the information or services they need. The challenge is to get them to come to your own website. Not only that, but you want to encourage repeat website visitors who will come to your site not just once, but many times.

Encouraging website visitors to return is not an especially difficult task. But it does require you to put some thought into the way that you run your website. You need to make sure that there is a reason for your visitors to come to your site in the first place, and then to keep coming back. One way of doing this is to ensure that you post useful and topical content. By positioning yourself as an expert, you’ll find that people want to read what you have to say. If you offer useful and helpful advice, your website visitors will keep coming back.

Make a habit of commenting on news items, or of reviewing new products. If your website visitors know that they can come to your site to get useful information about breaking news or items they want, they’ll keep coming back to your site. Making a point of commenting on contentious or topical articles or releases is also a good idea. No one wants to read about boring news events. If you pick topics that people tend to get passionate about, and make a habit of commenting on these, your website visitors will have a good incentive to return.

Another way of encouraging visitors to return to your website is to host competitions or run giveaways. People love getting stuff for free, after all. If you run regular contests and competitions, you’ll find that your website visitors will return time and time again. These competitions don’t need to be big, or expensive. A small voucher or even a custom graphic can be sufficient as a prize. Of course, some of the bigger websites do run substantial giveaways, and these are a great way to keep large numbers of website visitors returning.

Other useful ways to get your readers coming back to your website include regular outgoing newsletters with links to your new content, and links through your different social media feeds. Providing links means that your readers have to click on the links to read them, meaning that they’ll find themselves back at your site. The regular ‘reminder’ function of newsletters and social media can be a helpful nudge to encourage your website visitors to return.

Encouraging returning traffic to your website isn’t a difficult undertaking, but does require some thought on your behalf. Keep in mind what your readers want and enjoy, and you’ll find that your visitors will keep returning.

Valentine day flowers

Most men know that sending or buying Valentine day flowers is de rigeur. It’s not something you do that’s “nice”, it’s something expected, like taking down the garbage, mowing the lawn, or cleaning the garage. It’s a gesture of marital servitude and acceptance of your place as a pawn in Hallmark’s game of houses.

What most men don’t know is that different valentine day flowers have different meanings. You can’t go wrong with red roses, obviously – red roses mean love. Stick with that tried and true formula, and things will be just fine. But if you want to take it to another level, live a little risky and out on a limb, then you should consider some valentine day flowers alternatives.

For example, the aster is a beautiful irridescent purpleish-pink flower with a yellow center. It looks kind of like a sunflower, only if sunflowers were roughly a thousand times more beautiful than they are. And the aster itself, like the red rose, is a symbol of love. (And daintiness, but hey, she doesn’t need to know that. She’ll just be impressed that you were able to still come through with flowers, show some originality, and brag to her friends about you. In short, you’ll have taken a mundane task and turned it into big points in your favor – very important with March Madness and the start of the baseball season coming up).

A bouquet of valentine day flowers that may light a fire in your relationship – something married couples occasionally need – is the pink camellia. Like the Aster it has a yellow center, and though the aster itself is more beautiful in my humble opinion, the pink camellia’s indication is a “longing for you.” That’s pure romance, and if she’s not appreciative of that, your relationship may need more than just a few flowers in order to fix what’s broken.

The red camillia is very similar, with the meaning “you’re a flame in my heart.” Pretty romantic, very pretty, and a very nice alternative to red roses. You might, however, want to stay away from the white camellia, which means “you’re adorable.” It’s a nice sentiment, of course, but the wrong woman could take that message the wrong way, and instead of earning brownie points you’d have set yourself back some with those.

And of course you can almost never go wrong with the forget-me-not when it comes to valentine day flowers. A beautiful sky blue with a yellow center, the forget-me-not symbolizes both true love and memories. For those in an enduring relationship, nothing could be more appropriate than these beautiful flowers for valentine’s day.

Should Preventive Mastectomy be among Allowed Treatments for Breast Cancer?

It is one thing to be told you have breast cancer and then to tap into whatever treatments you need to get better. But it’s another thing to be a part of a growing number of women who, having learned about the bad news that they have cancer on one breast, choose to say that they would rather be alive than struggle with vanity. They choose to have both breasts removed, a double mastectomy, as the ultimate in treatments for breast cancer. Hospitals have found that over the last ten years, the number of women who have been willing to choose this kind of preventive removal, has doubled – to about 5% of all women who come to be diagnosed with breast cancer.

But this at least makes little sense: you’ve seen other women in your family develop breast cancer, and you have a case of it on one breast yourself. So you think that you might as well completely be done with it by removing both breasts. But how about women who don’t have any cancer still choosing to live with no breasts? These are women who have a family history of breast cancer but have had nothing personally happen to them. Hospitals are finding that these women come in, and growing numbers, to get their preventive mastectomy done more than ever before. And this has everyone worried. Doctors don’t believe that choosing this kind of voluntary amputation helps anyone live longer or be healthier.

Even among women who have cancer on one breast, only 5% get it because they have a genetic vulnerability to cancer. For the rest, with no genetic vulnerability, if they get it on one breast, they only stand a 20% chance that they could be unlucky enough to get it on the other breast too. And even if they do get it on the other breast, chances are excellent that they could detect it quickly and cure themselves. Before women try to beat the tiny odds that they could get incurable cancer a second time, they need to think about the certain physical damage that they will suffer when they choose preventive mastectomy, and the hidden consequences of complications – lifelong pain from nerve damage, infection, internal bleeding, and so on. Women have to be counseled into understanding that preventive mastectomies are not to be thought of as possible treatments for breast cancer prevention.

Cancer experts around the nation are beginning to look into offering better information and counseling to women, to help them leave such superstitious pseudoscientific convictions behind. Hospitals should also need to think of how to refuse women unnecessary treatments that they just cannot medically justify. There is the Hippocratic oath they need to think of, that they can never leave the patient worse off than before. About 10,000 women have done this over the last 15 years. This is no matter to take lightly anymore.

Treatment of Fibromyalgia

Unlike diseases with clear-cut diagnosis, the treatment of fibromyalgia is not definitive. This stems from the very nature of the disease which is compounded by different symptoms in different people. For some, the symptoms include stiff joints, sleep disturbances and fatigues. Other patients suffer from cognitive dysfunction, numbness, bowel abnormalities and tingling. The most common symptom amongst fibromyalgia sufferers is chronic pains all over the body and pain in all pressure points in the body. These include the back and front lower parts of the neck, hip joints, elbows and knees. Doctors also draw a relation between psychiatric conditions like anxiety, depression or stress-related conditions with fibromyalgia.

Like other diseases which lack an accepted universal diagnosis, treatment of fibromyalgia aims at managing the symptoms rather than curing the condition. As such, a combination of modern and complementary medicines, as well as behavioral therapy and exercise are all used to relief the intense chronic pains that patients experience.

Recently, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) approved two drugs: Cymbalta and Lyrica, for treatment of fibromyalgia. Cymbalta is an anti-depressant that increases the nor-epinephrine and serotonin in the patient抯 nervous system since most fibromyalgia sufferers have low levels of the two neuro-chemicals. Lyrica on the other hand is an anticonvulsant that reduces pain levels in Fibromyalgia patients by calming damaged nerves through binding specific proteins within affected nerve cells. Other medicines used in the treatment of fibromyalgia include sleep initiators, analgesics, stimulants and muscle relaxants.

Since most fibromyalgia suffers are sensitive to contemporary medicine, the use of supplementary and herbal treatments gives them a healthy and helpful alternative. Consumption of vitamin D rich foods is for example recommended for patients who suffer from multi-skeletal pains. Acupuncture is also another supplementary treatment of fibromyalgia conditions, which is known to relief symptoms such as depression, irritable bowel syndrome, sleep disorders and pain.

Bodywork therapies are also used for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Such include myofascial-release therapy, therapeutic massages and energy medicines. The latter are practices that maintain balance in the body抯 energy fields. Although such have little scientific backing, most patients claim to experience a measure of health restoration once the energy medicine is administered.

Regular exercise is also recommended as a viable treatment option for fibromyalgia. However, most patients find this hard to accept especially because body movement in fibromyalgia patients is met with pain. No matter the level of discomfort suffered by the patients, doctors advise them to desist from too much rest since that only leads to stiffening of muscles and joints, and more severe symptoms.

Toddler Birthday Parties

When you plan a birthday party, you probably think about the cake, what games to play, and what you may want to give out as favors. However, there is something else that you have to think about as well, and without giving it some thought, things could be chaos. You have to remember the toddlers are very active, but also need naps and a lot of supervision. You should make sure you plan toddler birthday parties accordingly. Without this type of planning, what would turn out to be a great party can turn out to be a disaster.

Timing is everything when planning toddler birthday parties. Having a party at two in the afternoon could mean disaster. This is prime nap time, even for those that are down to just one nap a day. You should pick a different time. Four might be okay, as many naps are over by that time. You could also do something around lunch time, but remember that is when these kids tend to get cranky. You may want to call a few of the parents and ask what they think is a good time of day for their child. That can help you pick a good time for almost everyone.

Toddler birthday parties are touchy when it comes to sweets as well. You may be use to slicing up cake and ice cream for adults at gatherings, but how much sugar do you really want to give a room full of toddlers? You can still have the cake and ice cream if you wish, but keeps the servings very small. Offer up something else first, so that the kids will not be starving when you get out the cake. Fruit salad is always a great idea, and most parents will approve. If you can serve a small meal first that can help as well. Stay away from peanuts, as there are many kids out there with an allergy to those these days.

Keep your favors safe and easy. You may get a kick out of giving out favors that are noisy but remember the parents may return the favor one day. Choose toddler birthday party toys that are fun but quiet and non-toxic. If you find something along the theme of your party, that is great, but there are other generic things out there that most parents will like and the kids will love. There are going to be plenty of toddler birthday parties in your future, so be kind and those that invite you in the future will remember to return the favor, so to speak.

Always, always have something for the kids to do at toddler birthday parties. This means having structured games and events to keep them busy and engaged. If you have a lull in the party, you may lose them forever. Nothing says trouble like a toddler with nothing to do and a whole new house or area to explore. They don’t mean to get into trouble by finding your glass egg collection, they just want to see if they bounce. If you keep the party to a good time limit and have plenty for them to do, everyone will have fun and your house will be in once piece once the party is nothing but a sweet memory.

Are teen relationships too exclusive early on?

When kids hit their teens, it’s like a magic emotional-mental button is pushed. All of a sudden, you instinctively grab for independence, want to spread your wings and join the society of semi-adults. You may start believing that Mom and Dad have imparted to you everything you need to know to make your own decisions in life.

While your parents have doubtless tried to give you their best guidance, to prepare you for adult life, the missing ingredient is always experience, sometimes gained only through the school of hard knocks. However, from your perspective, teen relationships are, more or less, like adult relationships. Let’s take a look at some of the differences between teen relationships and adult relationships.

You may think that, hey, you clean your room without being told to do so, shop for your own clothes, have your own group of friends and dates. What more do you need to know?

While you may have a couple of BFFs, you also know that teen relationships with others of your gender tend to come and go. This week’s new friend may be next week’s enemy. These fleeting relationships do serve to gain you experience in both life and friendships.

Other types of teen relationships of the boy-girl type tend to be of a different nature. Perhaps it’s a combination of hormones, a sense of romance and an (almost) unconscious longing to have an adult relationship that pulls you fully in to the world of grown-ups, that final break with the parental control that makes you feel that you’re a fully functional free individual.

A word of warning ?too often, both parties in dating teen relationships, have an inclination to cling to a single individual, that one ‘true love’. Being a couple may seem to confer some kind of special status amongst your peers. However, again, it’s experience that’s missing. Your assessment of your Prince or Princess may be one viewed through the proverbial rose colored glasses, with you seeing what you want to see, while explaining away behaviors and personality quirks which you may not like, but are willing to overlook.

Here’s a valuable word of advice on such boy-girl teen relationships. When you begin dating, you’ll learn far more and avoid much needless heartbreak if you date a number of people, casually, with no-strings-attached. This relieves you of so many pressures incumbent in the committed relationship. Both boys and girls in dating teen relationships are generally looking for that ‘forever’ relationship, without sufficient experience to identify a person who will be truly compatible for a lifetime. Too often, teens end up marrying as soon as they turn 18, or soon after. Statistically, people who marry so young are almost assuredly doomed to a failed marriage.

While you may stay friends with your same-gender peers for decades, teen lovers almost never fare so well. Play it smart. Let yourself change and grow emotionally, as is natural. By the time you’re in your mid-twenties, dating a number of people, you’ll have enough experience and maturity to be considering a permanent love relationship.

Give yourself a chance to mature emotionally and get a firm grip on who you are and where you’re going. Teen relationships are, ideally, an opportunity for fun, learning and becoming your own person. This process gives you that experience you need to find that one true love and a happy future!
